Donate your old vehicle to the fire department

The Mt. Morris Fire Protection District responds to emergencies each year that involve extricating drivers and passengers from vehicles after an auto accident.  Often there can be serious injuries as a result of these accidents, and before patients can be removed from the affected vehicles for medical treatment, our firefighters must use specialized rescue equipment and techniques to remove them from the twisted metal. As new vehicles are produced with even more advanced construction methods, fuel delivery systems, lightweight components, airbag safety systems and computer controlled security.  It has become more important that our firefighters stay educated on the changes in vehicles construction and the extrication techniques needed to safely and swiftly rescue accident patients. As part of our training program, our firefighters participate in vehicle extrication drills.  These drills involve using the extrication tools and techniques on actual donated vehicles.  This hands on approach enables us to practice and perfect our skills. If you have a vehicle that you would like to donate to the Mt. Morris Fire Protection District, please Contact Lt. Mark Lewis by phone at (815)734-4322 ext. 103 or email at mlewis5726@mountmorrisfire.com to make arrangements to drop of the vehicle.  The owner must be present to sign over the title of the vehicle and will receive a letter indicating that the vehicle has been donated to the Fire District for extrication training and for your tax purposes.  Please make sure that all personal possessions have been removed from the vehicle prior to making the donation.  Thank you in advance for your continued support!!
