Yes, firefighting is very hard work. There will times were long hours are required, and work in dark, dirty, cold, and hot conditions. Being a volunteer firefighter will never make you monetarily rich. The payment comes from the pride you will have in yourself and your organization. It comes from the feelings of friendship and teamwork that you will enjoy. It’s in the heartfelt handshake of a grateful homeowner, a mother’s tear of gratitude, a child’s awe as they see inside of a real fire truck, and talk to a real firefighter. The smile of a friend or neighbor who smiles and says “job well done”, and the time spent with follow firefighters builds a sense of teamwork and accomplishment. The Mt. Morris Fire Protection District is looking for volunteers to respond to roughly 900 emergency calls for service each year. We are in need of mature, healthy, responsible people who can carry out orders and train for leadership! We have immediate openings! Training, tools, uniforms, and gear will be provided. All we require is that you are 18 years old, live in the Mt. Morris Fire Protection District, and have a valid Illinois Drivers License, with no felonies on your record. Inquire within at anytime.
