- Mt. Morris Fire responds to 1823 N. Mt. Morris Rd. for a Structure Fire -


On July 13th, 2009 Mt. Morris Fire and Ambulance responded to a reported structure fire at 1823 N. Mt. Morris Rd. just outside the Village. Chief Hough arrived on scene and assumed Command on a 2 story wood frame with fire heavily involving the rear of the structure. Mt. Morris Fire immediately requested a second alarm MABAS Box 18. Firefighters had the fire under control in just under 2 hours. Fire Co’s remained on scene for a few hours performing extensive overhaul to ensure the fire was extinguished. The home received approximately $75,000 worth of damage to its contents and structure. The sole occupant of the residence was alerted to the fire by his cat and was able to exit the structure. Byron, Dixon Rural, Forreston, Oregon, Polo and Stillman Valley Fire Departments assisted Mt. Morris at the scene. German Valley and Leaf River covered Mt. Morris’s empty firehouse. Mt.
