- Mt. Morris Fire responds to 202 E. Brayton Rd. for a structure fire -


On Saturday evening March 14th Mt. Morris Fire was dispatched to a possible structure fire at the corner of Clark St & Brayton Rd. in the Village. Chief Hough arrived on scene in four minutes to find a garage located at 202 E. Brayton Rd. fully involved with fire extending to the residence of the same address. At this time Chief Hough requested a 2nd alarm on MABAS Box 18. Fire Co’s entered the house and made attempts to stop the rapidly advancing fire in the houses north wall and attic area. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in an hour and a half. Fire Co’s remained on scene for a few hours performing extensive overhaul to ensure the fire was extinguished. The garage & home received approximately $100,000 worth of damage to its contents and structure. The homes occupants were home at the time and were able to escape. Byron, Dixon Rural, Forreston, Oregon, Polo and Stillman Valley Fire Departments assisted Mt. Morris at the scene. German Valley, Leaf River and Stillman covered Mt. Morris’s empty firehouse. Mt.
