On February 2, 2010 at around 7:00pm, Mt. Morris Fire and Ambulance responded to the 500 block of East Brayton Rd. for a report of a one vehicle accident, car versus pole. Chief Hough arrived on scene to find one vehicle on it's wheels, and a utility pole that had been snapped into three places with its wires down on the vehicle. Occupants of the vehicle were still inside, they were reached by P.A.(public address) microphone to stay in the vehicle. ComEd was contacted and arrived within 15 minutes to shut the power off. Once the power was confirmed to be shut off, fire Crews extricated both patients from the vehicle and they were both transported to an area hospital by Mt. Morris Ambulances. Fire Crews remained on the scene until 04:30am when utility crews were able to replace the pole and wires. A subcontractor was called in by ComEd to clean up the road from a dropped transformer. Route 64 was closed for nine hours.
