-Mt. Morris Fire responds to 5760 W. IL Rt. 64 for a Tractor Fire -

Mt. Morris Fire responds to a report of a tractor fire. Chief Hough arrived on scene to find a Steiger tractor fully involved with barns about 100 ft. upwind. Engine Co. 5702 arrived and deployed a 2 1/2" attack line on the fire while a second line was positioned to use foam. The tractor had about 100 gallons of diesel fuel on board and about 90 gallons of hydraulic fluid. The strong winds and fuel made the fire difficult to extinguish. Fire companies operated on the scene for about an hour.
